Love, love, LOVE this program! Owen has gotten so many books since I wrote this post a year ago, 12 to be exact! I grabbed a few laying around to give you an updated picture of some of the new ones. So excited to get Emden’s second book!
If I told you you could get a FREE book in the mail every month for your kiddo until their 5 years old would you believe me? Well you can and you don’t have to watch a video, do a silly dance, or thankfully give one of your kidneys up; all you have to do is sign your child up with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! Yes, this deal is the deal of a lifetime…well, five years!
Every child’s first book is the classic The Little Engine That Could ™. The books arrive each month until the child turns 5—and in their very last month in the program they receive Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come. A blue ribbon panel of experts select just the right books and secured Penguin Group USA to be the exclusive publisher for the Imagination Library.
Here’s the ONLY problem with this, your community has to have adopted the program. A community must make the program accessible to all preschool children in their area. The community pays for the books and mailing, promotes the program, registers the children, and enters the information into the database.
We ran into this problem with my firstborn son Rylan. I tried to sign him up when he was 5 months old, but Columbia didn’t adopt the program until Jan. 1, 2008. Rylan was born Dec. 27, 2007. Yes, just 4 days too old and no, they cannot make any exceptions…I tried! It’s not too sad of a story though, we signed Owen up when he was born and Rylan is enjoying all the books Owen is getting sent now every month. I think this is the coolest program! Thank you Dolly!
1. Sign your child up for Imagination Library
2. After signing up, an e-mail will be sent within a couple of days accepting or denying your application.
3. If your child is approved, yippee! Be on the lookout for your first book! If your child is denied, try getting your community to become an affiliate.
