I’m a little behind on posts because of all the work we’ve been doing in our kitchen and trying to get other various projects wrapped up, all the while being a mom to three kids. If my life wasn’t already chaotic enough, it definitely went a notch up when I noticed the front door was left open and then peering up at me with what I’m sure was a grin on his face was a lizard!
I reacted like any normal person would and went screaming and running to my husband to get in the house now! Then I jumped onto a chair, Emmy in my arms, and waited as Jeff went to get gloves on– turns out he’s not that fond of lizards either! After what seemed like nearly a century of Emden and I and the lizard in the house together, Jeff came in to corral the lizard.
As the lizard darted in different directions I realized I was not safe on the chair because lizards can climb…I quickly tried to erase that knowledge out of my head. I thought for a moment we were going to have an America’s Funniest Videos moment and started to grab for my phone but before I could get to it, Jeff had chased the lizard out of the house and I was okay with that.
Needless to say, I had nightmares about snakes and lizards that night and hardly slept a wink. This happened several days ago, yet I still find myself examining each room before I walk into it, expecting to have two little eyes gleaming and waiting for me.
The pictures below are of the escaped convict. Jeff wasn’t too thrilled about trying to catch the lizard, but he jumped to get his camera and take pictures of it once it was outside. Me, I can’t even look at the pictures as I post them…gives me the heebie jeebies!
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, it is a striped skink lizard– my husband just had to know. I could care less, it is a lizard and I don’t want it in my house– that’s all I’m concerned with!
