Pumpkin Rise Krispie Treats

If you’re having a Halloween party or you just want to have some fun with your little ones, try this pumpkin version of Rice Krispie Treats that are sure to please everyone’s tastebuds.  They were a hit in our household!

  • 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine (Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.)
  • Food coloring (orange)
  • 6 cups   Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
  • 12 bite-size candies (such as peanut butter cups or chocolate-covered nougat bars) *optional
  • 12 small green gum drops or Dots
Game Plan:

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.

For best results, use fresh marshmallows.  The miniature marshmallows melt much quicker.

2.  Remove from heat. Tint with orange food coloring.

2. Add marshmallow mixture to the Kellogg’s Rise Krispies cereal in a big bowl.  Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered hands, shape each portion into pumpkin shapes and hide a piece of candy inside if you like.

4.  Attach a gumdrop or Dot to the top for a stem.

Best if served the same day.  Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container.
