Tuesday Tip: Use Smaller Plates for Eating

Want to loose weight?  Tired of trying failed diets? I want to loose weight.  Who doesn’t?  And, yes I’ve tried dieting a couple of times and then realized I’m just not a “diet girl.”  Ha, I just can’t bare the thought of parting with chocolate and ice cream.  Anyway, I can’t even remember the last time I went on a diet and this is definitely not a post about dieting.  Rather, it’s a simple tip I’ve found helpful in maintaining my weight.

Instead of loosing weight, my focus has been just to maintain my weight and be able to fit in my clothes.  I’ve been lucky enough to stay relatively the same size for quite some time.  What’s my secret?  Well it sure isn’t what I eat and although I used to work out 2 times a week, I gave up my gym membership this year to try to save a little money (not sure if that was a good idea or not).

I really think one of the big keys to maintaining and loosing weight is portion control.  One way to really help with this is by using a smaller plate for meals.  Fool your eyes– the same size meal on a large plate looks much bigger when placed on a smaller plate.  Do Jeff and I do this all the time?  No, because we only have 10 salad plates so we use them about 50% of the time.  It’s just something simple and easy you can do to keep your weight in check and portion sizes smaller.
